India: Our Route

Well, plans never really work out do they?

I think I mentioned in one of my previous posts, that our original plans was to spend 2 months travelling India, a few weeks in Burma, and a bike trip from South to North Vietnam.

Seeing how bloody incredible India is, and how diverse, naturally we couldn’t tear ourselves away, and we only found ourselves leaving, due to low funds and visa expiry, 5 months later.

We’ve been up and down and round and round, and our route has taken some strange paths due to various circumstances that required us to change direction and go back on ourselves. So, here’s how we did it:

Kolkata -> Varanasi -> Allahabad -> Khajuraho -> Agra -> Hyderabad -> Madurai -> Pondicherry -> Varkala ->  Arambol (Goa) -> Anjuna -> Morjim -> Mandrem  ->  Palolem -> Gokarna -> Hampi -> Mysore -> Wayanad -> Ooty -> Alleppey -> Fort Cochin -> Mangalore -> Mumbai -> Ahmedabad -> Udaipur -> Jodhpur -> Jaisalmer -> Jaipur -> Pushkar -> Udaipur (again) -> Mumbai (again) -> Bijapur -> Bangalore -> Back to Bijapur -> Bangalore (again) -> Chennai (fly back to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam).

Total: 31 cities in 5 months.

Think we did pretty well! Next time I think I’d like to go really far North, and go into Nepal.
